Well, clearly, my October plan did not go as planned. Complicated by my ever present desire to waste time on anything and everything but what I need to do. Although, this blog idea is supposed to be for fun and for me to learn. I guess grammar and writing is not high on my priority list. I think maybe more planning needs to be put into each topic before I state what my topic of the month will be. I am going to go back to the drawing board and think about ways to make this more prominent, whether it be themed dailies, or a completely different topic.
October, as expected has been a busy month with Lorelei's birthday, and many of her little friends sharing birthdays this month.
I will try to focus my energy better and try to learn something new next month!
Stay tuned....

Grammar myths!
I began searching around and have heard of 'Grammar Girl' and thought it might be a nice place to start. I found this awesome little list of grammar myths.
Before even finishing I wanted to share this tidbit that always gets me: 'a' vs. 'an'
Instinctively, I always want to use 'an' before a word that begins with H and in other circumstances. Well, guess what I learned: you use 'a' before words that begin with consonant sounds and 'an' before words that begin with vowel sounds. I don't know why that excites me so much. It is something that I have always wondered and now can say confidently. Now to feel confident about lie, lay, etc....I don't think that will ever happen. :)

October will be the month of grammar
I have officially decided October will be the month of grammar. I must admit that my mind is racing of all the other blog topics I want to learn about or challenge myself with. However, I MUST start with grammar. I am terrible with grammar, and, well English in general. I guess I shouldn't say horrible because there are others that are far worse; however if I plan to write a blog and share all my newly learned knowledge with you I must write well or good or well, see???
Now, I am off to find a few websites to aid in my quest for grammar knowledge! I will of course link them up and share with you. My first post just may be good vs. well.
Oh, and Lo keeps saying she wants to learn to read and I tell her she needs to learn her letters first (she is about to turn 3 and knows a few). Today she said she is ready to learn her letters! I am so excited.

The start of something new
I have decided to learn something new every month. Each month I will pick a topic and research, practice, and share my new knowledge. I am hoping to start in October but I am not sure exactly if that will happen but this is something that I want to do. I think my first topic should either be blogging or writing. My grammar isn't quite up to par, English was never a favorite of mine. And blogging is new to me as well, and if I am going to blog my experiences in learning and growing, I figured that blogging is something I should learn about!
I know studying something for one month won't make me an expert and I don't plan to act like one, or be a go-to person on these topics. I have a curiosity about things and I love to learn. I will simply learn what I can and pass on my knowledge and experiences.
I am quite excited about this and have a growing list of topics to cover.
What first, English or blogging?
